Graphic Art

Want to work as an artist in a design studio, ad agency or production facility? Our Graphic Art and Graphic Design courses are renowned for their extensive ties with industry and the high rate of employment achieved by our graduates.

In the course you’ll learn both the traditional and electronic skills to forge a career in this dynamic industry including typographic techniques, graphics, drawing, digital photography and layout, design for new media and design theory.

Central to our approach is our strong link with the graphics industry. You’ll visit printers and design studios, exhibitions and trade shows. You’ll also have the chance to take part in our well-established extended work placement program. You may even be asked to join the working committee for the annual AGIdeas Design Conference.

Industry Testimonials

Our most recent staff additions have been graduates of Victoria University. For this reason we are keen participants in the work placement program the University has initialised. Our continued support of the University has come about as a result of the many talented students we have had contact with over the years. Their professionalism and technical expertise are second to none and therefore is a testament to the high standards upheld by Victoria University.

Steve Jones: Designer, Sadgrove Design Partners

While educating young graphic artists and designers in the technical and historical aspects of their chosen profession, is of utmost importance, it is the understanding of the industry, its people and its demands that complete the process. AGDA (Australian Graphic Design Association) encourages students to meet and mix with practicing professionals at its many seminars and events. Victoria University has strongly supported this process over a long period and the many students who attend have benefited greatly from this exposure. It is this cooperation between education and industry that Victoria University has continually shown a high degree of care and understanding in preparing industry-ready graduates.

Dennis Ogden: State Manager, AGDA Victoria
