The Multimedia Program currently offers the Advanced Diploma of Multimedia (CUF60501) with streams in Interactive Media and Games Development, and the Certificate IV in Mutimedia (CUF40801). We also offer industry training programs and short courses for individuals and organisations.
We focus on encouraging students to try out new ideas and to produce innovative and exciting projects. Students develop skills in game design and development, digital video production, web design and development, 2D design, interactive media, 3D animation and electronic art.
Multimedia and Games Dev training in the School of Creative Industries at VU gives students the highly specialised technical, creative and conceptual skills needed to integrate media and manage digital technology across industry sectors. VU students produce interactive multimedia and games product while learning how to develop and manage creative concepts to project completion. Adaptability and the importance of design principles underpin our approach.
Further Study
A credit pathway exists from the Certificate IV to the Advanced Diploma of Multimedia which will provide entry to the third year of Victoria University's Arts Degree in Multimedia or entry into the new dual award for the Games course.
Where do our graduates end up?
Our graduates regularly earn industry accolades and develop rewarding and stimulating careers in a wide range of areas.
Careers in Multimedia
These days, multimedia and games professionals can be found in all kinds of industries, not just in dedicated agencies. As the industry evolves, more and more opportunities are appearing in interesting and new places.
Our graduates have ended up in a wide variety of roles including developing games, designing cars for automotive manufacturers, running commercial web sites, creating 3D maps for the mining industry, developing animations and machinima, and managing multimedia education programs for schools.
Other graduates end up working for digital media and games companies or starting their own businesses, whilst others explore the digital arts exhibiting at high-profile national and international events such as CiberArt, SIGGRAPH, dLux media Arts and Fringe.
Industry Awards
Our students have been recognised in the prestigious ATOM and AIMIA awards every year since 1999.
In fact we’re proud
to say that in the 2007 AIMIA awards, two of only four national finalists in the Best Student-Developed Content section were VU TAFE graduates – and one of these won the award.
We scored all 5 finalists in the Best Tertiary Multimedia category of the 2006 ATOM awards and 4 out of 5 finalists in the Best Tertiary Interactive Game category.
Partnerships with Industry
Our School has established relationships with a number of industry partners, who often look to us to find new people to work on projects. As a result we've been successful in sourcing a large number of employment opportunities for our students.
