Advanced Diploma of Multimedia - Games Development ( CUF60501)
Course Description
The Games Development course offers advanced games production and project management skills with a focus on advanced skills in games-related software, design, scripting and concept development.
As well as providing the practical skills required by industry, students explore innovations in games such as multiplayer environments, location-based games and the use of mobile devices in gaming. There is a strong emphasis on creating real-life projects.
Students gain advanced games-related skills over three semesters before specialising in an area of interest with a supervised major project in the fourth semester. Pathways to Bachelor of Arts courses in Interactive Design are available to graduates.
The course is based in our brand new Flinders Street facility in the heart of Melbourne, directly opposite the Flinders Street train station, Our equipment includes high-end computers and games specific software. The Games Development course is conducted by leading industry teachers.

Graduate Prospects/Employment
Students graduate with sophisticated creative and technical abilities in this dynamic and expanding industry, as well as a comprehensive understanding of game design principles, project management and industry needs. Completion of The Advanced Diploma furthers careers in games development as well as other multimedia, design and art careers.
Our students are already making names for themselves in the Games Industry. Zach Griffen is taking his pick of international development deals with his Go Kart game KartSim. VU game design students are being snapped up by respected game development companies like Transmission, Blue Tongue, THQ and Red Ant while still completing the course. Our graduates have excellent employment outcomes.

Entry Requirements
Entry to The Advanced Diploma of Multimedia at VU for full time study is obtained through VTAC and by interview/folio presentation. Applicants must complete the VTAC Application form and apply for an interview by downloading an application for interview form here. Interviews and folio presentations are generally conducted in late November/early December.
Pathways
The Games course is a dual award qualification where students can choose to undertake some additional Higher Education subjects in the second year of the course, in order to enter the third year of the Bachelor of Arts Degree in Interactive Design.
