Applications

Entry requirements for all courses include an interview and also an audition for the performance courses. In addition, entry requirements for Certificate IV courses are generally a pass in units 3 and 4 VCE English or equivalent. Diploma courses require successful completion of a nationally recognised Certificate IV course (or equivalent) in the appropriate field of study. Degree course entry requires successful completion of either a nationally recognised Diploma or Advanced Diploma (or equivalent) in the relevant area.

Next steps

You must apply through VTAC and also lodge a completed Victoria University Supplementary Information Form to be considered for entry into the Certificate IV, Diploma or Degree courses (go to www.vtac.edu.au and www.vu.edu.au). After you have completed both of these, you will be contacted before December and asked to attend an interview/audition (audition is for performance applicants only). Interviews/auditions are held late November early December.

In addition, the department holds an information session in mid October at the Sunbury campus - check the VTAC guide or phone the department on (03) 9919 3204 for details. The information session is a great opportunity to see our facilities, meet staff and ask detailed questions about the course and selection process.

Click here for a pdf version of the information day flyer. The flyer contains information about application closing dates, interview/audition criteria and more.

About the interview/audition

Entry into all music courses is on the basis of an interview. Please note that entry to the performance courses is based also on an audition. For more information such as what to bring and the selection criteria, you should attend the information day as advised in the VTAC guide or contact the music department on (03) 9919 3204.

When do classes commence?

Classes begin late February/early March. Check with the department for exact dates and timetable details.
