Performance : Special Projects
Residency Project
Practising performing artists and/or companies with an established body of work are invited to consider undertaking a period of professional or artistic development as a resident artist or company.
Proposals might include:
-creative development of part or all of a new work
-further development of an existing work
-collaborations with specific artists, objects or forms
-ensemble development
-physical exploration of scripts
-physical exploration of storytelling or narrative forms
Residency projects are aimed at mid-career theatre and dance artists and companies seeking time, studio space and collaborative support to further develop one or more of the above.
Pre-requisites
-Established professional performance experience
-Positive interpersonal skills and attitudes
Where is it?
Studios and Theatre spaces are available at the Footscray Nicholson and Sunbury Campuses. Proposals can include use of other sites and locations.
How does it work?
As part of their residency, artists and companies will negotiate to provide some of the following:
- competency outcomes for one or more of the artists engaged in each project
- placement or secondment opportunities within the project for enrolled VU Vocational Performance students where appropriate
- professional workshops and demonstrations for enrolled VU students and/or VU staff
- other services specific to each artist or project
How do I apply?
Special Projects are considered on a case by case basis. Artists and companies can be invited to consider a project or can send an expression of interest to perform@vu.edu.au.
