The Video & Motion Graphics stream at Victoria University covers a wide range of professional skills in video production, post-production, audio design and production, motion graphics and theoretic studies relevant to broadcast and online media.
The course focuses on practical production skills in camera operation, lighting, audio production and production management. Post-production skills in effects driven motion design including 3D animation, motion design and video compositing effects are an integral part of the program.
The Video & Motion Graphics course has a strong emphasis on practical work and project management with a focus on conceptual development and advanced design skills. You will develop exceptional software skills with involvement in real-world professional learning experiences giving you an advantage in both freelance and studio based employment opportunities. Within a workshop based course structure students create several major projects providing a strong portfolio with enhanced employment potential.

Video producers, post-production editors and motion designers are involved in a wide range of production activities for broadcast and online delivery. Graduates have taken career paths that have involved both freelance and studio based employment within advertising, film production and post-production studios and a wide range of online media applications.
As a graduate Video & Motion Graphics student you will be able to:
Produce short to medium length programs for creative and commercial applications.
Operate camera, lighting and audio recording equipment with expertise and safety.
Edit video and audio with both technical expertise and an understanding of story development.
Design and create motion graphics and manage digital effects.
Make effective use of marketing and self-promotion to enhance self-employment and business development.
Integrate skills developed in a range of industry standard software.
Experiment with mediums for a variety of artistic outcomes

The Diploma of Interactive Digital Media at VU consists of 16 approved industry standard units of competency selected from the Screen and Media Training Package CUF07.
Advanced Diploma of Screen and Media - Video and Motion Graphics
The Advanced Diploma of Screen and Media - Video and Motion Graphics consists of 28 approved industry standard units of competency selected from the Screen and Media Training Package CUF07.

The Diploma of Interactive Digital Media is the qualification you will leave with if you decide to exit the Advanced Diploma of Screen and Media – Video and Motion Graphics course at the end of 12 months.
Advanced Diploma of Screen and Media - Video and Motion Graphics
The program runs for 18 months, full-time, culminating in an individual major project that students are able to use as part of their job portfolio.
Our Flinders Street facility is located on the 16th, 17th and 18th floor of the Flinders Street campus in the heart of Melbourne, with spectacular views over the city and Southbank.
The café and cultural delights of Flinders Lane and Degraves Street are minutes away, and the Flinders Street train station is across the road. It’s an inspiring, exciting and convenient place to study.
St Albans
Those who study at our St Albans facility benefit from being part of an award-winning $6.5 million online learning centre. This centre forms a prominent part of VU's extensive 32-hectare St Albans campus in Melbourne's West. The St Albans train station is minutes away, or if you’re driving extensive parking is at the door.
Our Mac and PC computer labs at both campuses are modern and up to date, with projectors in every lab and plenty of room.
